We have worked together with Pastor Adrian and his wife Ophelia for over 13 years and have visited his ministries on-site in Sri Lanka a few years ago. They do an amazing job reaching out to the nation with the love of Jesus Christ. We appreciate their goals of reaching self-sustainability in-country as discussed below. In addition to leading Kithu Sevana, Pastor Adrian volunteers a significant amount of time with Asian Access, a ministry that serves pastors all over Asia. Pastor Adrian’s son, Prashan, leads the Global Unites and Sri Lanka Unites ministry that we have also highlighted in this Blog.

Kithu Sevana’s Mission
Kithu Sevana means “The Shadow of Christ.” We believe that caring for the poor should be a core responsibility of the Church. Throughout their years of working with marginalized people groups and low income communities, we found people living in poverty, abused, rejected and ignored by society. Our vision is to reach out to men, women and children who are overlooked, rejected, and ignored. We run homes of care for abandoned or abused children, reach out to widows and single mothers, and respond to the needs of hurting people within their community.
Mercy Ministries
Kithu Sevana is currently active in the following areas of mercy ministries:
Three homes for orphans and children at risk or children with single parents.
Two homes for young widows. These homes provide counseling and job training for 24 girls every year.
A retirement village for pastors.
Four complete villages (240 houses) for people who’s villages were wiped out by the 2004 Tsunami. We continue to minister these people.
Scholarships for over 200 underprivileged school-aged children in Southern Sri Lanka.
An integrated family program to uplift over 150 families in Chillaw.
Three church-based preschools.
Trauma counseling centers for churches in the North and East, where people were severely impacted by the 30-year civil war.
A youth center in Northern Sri Lanka reaching out to young people traumatized by the same civil war.
Ministry to the untouchables, those of the lowest caste in Sri Lanka. We have built homes for families, sent children to school, and provided sorely-needed supplies. Our fundamental goal is to work toward eradicating this evil system from our society.
Sustainability Projects
Kithu Sevana is committed to planting churches in unreached areas, and most often people living in unreached areas happen to be poor. To continue this aggressive church planting strategy, we need to work towards raising our own funds for operational expenses.
Camp Site – Our camp site provides residential accommodation for over 600 persons. This campsite brings in much needed income for our ministry. It has also turned to the premier Christian campsite in the Country.

Christmas Cards, Jewelry, and more -
Our children make and sell Christmas cards, jewelry, peanut butter and yogurts. We also raise our own vegetables.

These projects are designed to contribute to our children’s self-worth and dignity as well as providing ways to generate sustainable income.
The Farm - We have established a farm. We raise chicken, pigs, fruits and vegetables. The focus is to move away from dependence to sustainability.
All of our sustainability projects are carried out with the following objectives:
To raise funds for our operational expenses. Funds from sustainability projects and the tithes from people provide the bulk of the needed money for our operational expenditure.
To model our commitment to work hard and trust God to bless our efforts.
We also use our sustainability projects as models to challenge and equip other churches in the nation and south Asia.
After the 2019 bombing of three churches in the country and three luxury hotels killing over 300 worshipers another 200 in the hotels and injuring many for life, Kithu Sevana in partnership with the Mariner’s church, built the total infrastructure of the new Cardiology unit in the Negombo hospital, the worst hit area by the bombing. The government will supply the equipment and beds needed for this ward. This is a project in progress.
An urgent COVID-19 message from Pastor Adrian
We have responded to the needs of our people affected by the corona pandemic. Since the country imposed a sudden curfew and have kept the country under lock down for almost three weeks people are suffering. There is a shortage of food and medicines. Since the curfew is strictly imposed, anyone walking out of homes, even looking for food can be arrested, we had to respond.

The poor who does not have the capacity to stock food, the day wage earners who lost their jobs and Pastors of very small churches who depended on the tithes of people were the worst hit and they are ones that benefited from our project of caring.
Kithu Sevana church, obtained government approval to carry out food distribution throughout the Island through Kithu Sevana churches. To date we have served 779 families with the funds we received from Servants heart foundation, and Grace opens doors.
To provide financial support, please click the link below that will take you to Grace Opens Doors, which is a ministry that will distribute 100% of the funds donated directly to Kithu Sevana.
